About Queensland TMJ & Headache Centre
At the Queensland TMJ and Headache Centre, we are passionate about using physiotherapy to make everyday life better for those suffering from jaw, neck, and head conditions. This includes those suffering from headaches, migraines, whiplash, TMD, jaw pain, neck pain vertigo, and tinnitus.
Our clinic provides an individualised physiotherapy assessment and treatment program based upon each patient’s unique symptoms to ensure we address and treat the underlying cause of their condition and not just the symptoms.
Physiotherapist Jessica Dowling works collaboratively with other health professionals such as GP’s, dentists, endodontists, ENT’s, Maxillofacial surgeons, neurologists, prosthodontists, general physiotherapists, and massage therapists to ensure the best possible results for each individual.

Professional Experience

After growing up in Darwin, Jess moved to the Sunshine State in 2010 to study a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at James Cook University. Within 24 hours of graduating Jess flew to Japan to start her first job as a Physiotherapist in the ski fields in Niseko, Japan. Here she gain vast experience in the management and treatment of acute injuries.
Following a whirlwind few months living and working in the snow, Jess returned to Australia and settled in sunny and warm Cairns. Jess worked in a large private practice and had the opportunity to work alongside experienced physiotherapists. It was here Jess began to develop a keen interest in the treatment of jaw, neck, headaches and vertigo conditions after seeing the profound impact those suffering from these conditions were experiencing on their daily lives.
Her pursuit to learn and gain further experience in this field lead Jess to move to Brisbane in 2016, where she began working at a large leading Brisbane based headache and jaw clinic for over 5 years. Alongside gaining vast experience in this area over this time, Jess also completed her Level 1 and 2 Watson Headache® certification, various TMJ, cervical and vestibular training courses, and also had the opportunity to present to various groups including; dental clinics, GP’s, Griffith University 3rd and 4th-year physiotherapy students.
Passionate about her mission is to create a better everyday life for those suffering from jaw, neck, and headache conditions Jess opened Queensland TMJ & Headache Centre in 2021 and has continued to excel in this field helping more patients achieve their goals and reduce the burden of headache, neck and jaw conditions.
Jess frequently works with Maxillofacial Surgeons, Endodontists, Prosthodontists, Dentists, GP’s, and Neurologists to deliver the best results for her patients. She has a strong emphasis on patient education to ensure every patient has a strong understanding of their condition and is empowered with self-management strategies. She understands that pain is multi-factorial and tailors each patient with their own unique set of skills to best help them achieve their goals. Jess continues to learn through professional development and is frequently spending her weekends at training courses to further improves her skills and keep up to date with the latest evidence based practice.
Outside of work Jess enjoys being outdoors and is often found outside doing something active, eating delicious food or spending time with her friends.
